Two song digital EP and limited lathe cut 7" pressing on Clear and Black featuring two new You Vandal tracks in anticipation of their new LP coming out early 2022 again sees the band delivering more infection Pop-Punk and Rock filled to the brim with harmonies, melodies, and all the riffage you can handle.
Clear lathe cuts are exclusive to the band and black lathe cuts are exclusive to the label.
What is a lathe cut? Glad you asked...
A lathe cut is similar to a pressed vinyl record in that it plays no differently than a normal PVC pressed record, but the main difference is that instead of going through the normal lacquer and plating process to produce hundreds, if not thousands of copies, lathe cut records are cut individually and in real time. 50 copies? Each copy was cut in real time, both sides A and B. If the A and B side tracks are three and four minutes a piece then it takes seven minutes to cut each lathe cut records. This is done on the same type of lathe with a diamond cutting head that is used to cut a reference and/or master lacquer in the regular vinyl pressing process.
Why is a two song 7" priced at $17 plus shipping? Glad you asked that as well...
The vinyl market and industry is pretty fucked right now. Chances of getting a record pressed in less than six months is basically impossible at the moment. Even though lathe cut records have to be done in real time, this is still faster than waiting for the pressing plants to get our wax on a press. Because of the time, materials, and limited copies of this release, we're selling these at cost. That's right, each one of these lathe cuts cost $17 to make, but the whole point isn't necessarily to make money off this (or any) release. If that were the point we would have stopped doing this a long, long time ago.
